“The regional associations form an important network, which we support and promote with our know-how in Berlin.”
Andreas Krautscheid, Chief Executive of the Association of German Banks

We are closely integrated into the network comprising the Association of German Banks in Berlin and its eleven regional associations and benefit from a regular exchange of information and experience. This gives us access to the expertise of a leading professional association in all national and international fields of relevance to us and our members in the state of Hesse.

The Association of German Banks was founded in Cologne in 1951 and has been located in Berlin since 1999. As the voice of the private financial sector, it consolidates, shapes and represents the interests of the private banking industry, acting as an intermediary between private banks, policymakers, consumers and businesses. It represents over 200 members consisting of banks, fintechs and regional associations, including the Association of Banks in Hesse. As a member of the German Banking Industry Committee (GBIC) it cooperates with the four other leading associations in the banking industry.

Banking supervision and regulation increasingly take place at European and international level. For this reason, the Association of German Banks has an office in Brussels. It is represented at international level through its membership of the European Banking Federation (EBF) and the International Banking Federation (IBFed) and is also involved in the Institute of International Finance (IIF), the Institute of International Bankers (IIB) and International Chamber of Commerce (ICC).

Through our close cooperation with the federal association, we are able to give voice to the interests of our members in Hesse both throughout Germany and worldwide.
